Scrawls and Splats

One of the great loves of my life is art. I love lines, colours and texture. I also love to try to “do things myself”. Ever since I was little I wanted to know how things worked and to recreate things. I got told off by my grade 1 teacher for using green as a hair colour. I defended my work by saying I saw a punk on the street with green hair and I liked it. That was the start of my creative stifling. All through school I had teachers that never encouraged my creativity. I was too “punk” for my own good and always marched to the beat of my own drum.

Now that I’m old, I’m trying art again. I work in a somewhat creative realm which is great but it is more in the digital space. I like getting my hands dirty, ink on my fingers and paint everywhere. That is my happy place. I love printmaking at the moment but I’m also doing beadwork embroidery. It’s dangerous for me to scroll Pinterest because I’ll have a new way to be creative.

Here’s some of my recent “work”.

Fuelled by espresso, sarcasm, and a loathing for comic sans.
